whats shakin folks. back with some more sketches for you guys. couple bulldogs (surprise surprise) some fantastic four stuff and a sketch page. the fantastic 4 year olds came from my impulse to draw a baby human torch not bad for a real fast sketch. i really dig the bulldogs and the frankenstein on the sketch page. more stuff soon.

i spy...

these half sheet sketch pages that i do at work keep me sane. the general rule of thumb is think of something random and draw! or start drawing and see what comes out. most of them the line goes down unchanged but a few get touched up or beefed up. i really enjoy what comes out of these exercises. can you find 7 bulldog puppies, a flatulent arachnid, a drunken mouse, a sasquatch, an over excited weenie dog, a noisy fly, a baby penguin, a fat pig on his way to market, mike wazowski, and a bipedal whale? have a little fun with this one guys! keep an eye out for the belated post of the adorable fathers day card and more coming soon!

comic book men

its been a while since i posted. but ive got an excuse! a chubby wrinkly furry one. we moved into our new place in the middle of july and the first saturday we were here we headed north to bring home our puppy abe. this is a big deal for me since its been a dream of mine to own an english bulldog for quite a long time. when we met him he was exactly what i had dreamed of. anyway we brought him home and he has been the center of attention since. so double posts tonight and more to come soon. for starters i've got some superheroes for you. if you haven't noticed i'm quite a fan of mr. grimm hence 2 of him here. excelsior true believers!

mamas day card

another parental acknowledgement day has come and passed and another weird zach card has been made. happy mothers day from your baby boy! creepy yet ... terribly creepy. also funny. i was going to do a comic page about trying real hard and making something just for you blah blah blah (poops in diapies) but ran out of patience/time. presented for your disapproval the sketch and final color versions of mamas day card 2012....

sunny days

so some time ago i swore to myself "no more threadless!" because the t shirt site had drifted from the great designs it once featured and the community were snobby undereducated bad designers by and large. a bunch of over designed nonsense and i didnt care for it. however, they hit my weak spot. henson. a sesame street sponsored contest suckered me back in. i sat down and busted out some ideas and later a final concept. here's the sketches and the finals and a link where you can go vote for my design. todays the last day to vote. give it a 5 and maybe it get picks. im spending the day working on a couple projects so stay tuned for more posts in the not too distant future....

huzzah!

after nearly giving up on my old scanner it has returned from the dead! and that means new drawings for your eyeballs! a bunch of these have been sitting around waiting to get scanned in and i rather like them. theres a safety conscious gorilla cyclist, a pachyderm picabo street, a chameleon looking for lunch, and a vocal crow. theres also a sketch i did of a grizzled bear which i just did a painting of for my papa bear and another cubicle sketch page. this sketch page has 2 drawings i really like on it in the frog smoking a people sized cigarette and the bulldog in a cape known only as superpup!   stay tuned for an extra bonus super fun-time and interactive post for later tonight!

turtle redux

its been a while but heres a sort of new piece. i took the rocket turtle i sketched out at work a while back and it did it up real quick in illustrator. im gonna throw a few older pieces up here as well until i get some of the new stuff scanned in. theres a series of 3 animals i did several years back that im still rather fond of and some other stuffs as well...

le sigh....

oh no! my ancient scanner up and finally died on me after years of faithful service. that said it might be a bit until i am posting much in the way of new art but i am going to try and get some stuff thats been sitting on my  computer for a while up here and maybe some new final art based on some of these sketches. also the birthday cards have been rolling out lately and i will be posting those as i get images back from their recipients. the list so far: a lion, a tiger, a bear (oh my!), a baby orangutan, a toucan and a couple beagles. the plan is to set up an etsy page so you too can order your own original zach cards! more details when i finally get that rolling (if you want one before then shoot me an email and we can talk details!) also i have all the original work drawings done for my adorable girlfriend all scanned and cropped hopefully getting that book rolling too... stay tuned and hopefully there will be some new posts within a week or so.

cubicle escapist

here's another batch of sketches i've been doing at work in between taking calls and reading game of thrones... i recently picked up a couple volumes of hickman's fantastic four so the thing was floating around my braincase and so i did a blocky little sketch of him. also did a yeti drawing and decided to throw it in a quick postcard for tibet. a little dragon sketch in there also a giant atop a beanstalk and a rocketurtle. and then a couple doodle pages. these come about because i do quick drawings on a half sheet of paper i keep under my book so they are quickly accessible in between calls. as i finish one little sketch i move the paper or rotate to the next clean spot hence the way they are arranged around the borders. these little drawings help keep me sane as i try not to walk out on my job because i gots bills to pay!
