le sigh....

oh no! my ancient scanner up and finally died on me after years of faithful service. that said it might be a bit until i am posting much in the way of new art but i am going to try and get some stuff thats been sitting on my  computer for a while up here and maybe some new final art based on some of these sketches. also the birthday cards have been rolling out lately and i will be posting those as i get images back from their recipients. the list so far: a lion, a tiger, a bear (oh my!), a baby orangutan, a toucan and a couple beagles. the plan is to set up an etsy page so you too can order your own original zach cards! more details when i finally get that rolling (if you want one before then shoot me an email and we can talk details!) also i have all the original work drawings done for my adorable girlfriend all scanned and cropped hopefully getting that book rolling too... stay tuned and hopefully there will be some new posts within a week or so.

alright, here's a few of those work animals for you, i can't leave without throwing something visual on here.

cubicle escapist

here's another batch of sketches i've been doing at work in between taking calls and reading game of thrones... i recently picked up a couple volumes of hickman's fantastic four so the thing was floating around my braincase and so i did a blocky little sketch of him. also did a yeti drawing and decided to throw it in a quick postcard for tibet. a little dragon sketch in there also a giant atop a beanstalk and a rocketurtle. and then a couple doodle pages. these come about because i do quick drawings on a half sheet of paper i keep under my book so they are quickly accessible in between calls. as i finish one little sketch i move the paper or rotate to the next clean spot hence the way they are arranged around the borders. these little drawings help keep me sane as i try not to walk out on my job because i gots bills to pay!

i recently posted some sketches of a little gator boy i did at work and i recently finished him up digitally and even made a a christmas card out of him but i dont think im going to get around to printing them up in time this year. we'll see...

miss amandas birthday stuffs

there were 2 birthdays this month that required excessive artwork from yours truly. the first was my mamas (i will post her stuff on wednesday or thursday this week) and amandas. the both got a cut paper card and a painting. these are amandas.  the card is a tiger whose ear pulls out with the message inside. the painting is a monkey which also happened to be the first of well over 100 animals i drew for her whilst flirting at work (unbeknownst to her for quite awhile apparently...) i find both quite cute and fairly successful. she also got 2 seasons of parks and rec on dvd and the pawnee book by leslie knope. spoiled, huh?

gator boy early versions

the other night at work i decided i wanted to draw a pudgy little alligator fellow. so i did. and he actually turned out pretty great. i have the original sketch and then it with the details on it. i plan on doing a fully colored version soon and shall post it as well. this idea may have stemmed from a friend making me watch swamp people in which a bunch of rednecks go around shooting alligators. i feel like this guy could talk his way out of a .22 to the back of the head...

elephantastic

a painting was requested of me some time ago but no subject was specified. as such i did nothing out of irritation but then i decided, elephant! so i did a drawing at work and then i decided to do it up digital style before i waste a canvas and paint and so much of my suuuuuper valuable time. so heres the pencil drawing and the digital version. perhaps the final painting will be posted at a later date as well.
